I wonder if it is? like around 34th Ave and about 14 St. We do have tons of papayas growing around here too... By the way, a good 38% percent of all simple Midwestern girls end up in Florida, so think of giant flying cockroaches and tremble. You have been warned.

Re: Photos of 1950s St Petersburg Florida

Bonjour! Just came across your site with my photos via random googling. I am Vieilles_Annonces and yeah, I AM simply a midwestern girl, well, woman who has a stressful career. I started my collections as a hobby to "take the edge off," if you will. But, I wanted to write to say, yes, there ARE simple Midwestern girls who just wish to share their hobby with others - ok, share their obsession with others. As for the St Pete photos, I'm just going on slide notes. Don't know how accurate they are after all this time.

Re: Plein Air Painter Peter Pettegrew Is My Pal

What a great scene; wait until you see the whole film!!!!!!

Re: Photos of 1950s St Petersburg Florida

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I think I'll do an edit on the post to indicate your suspicions. Nobody has been able to verify either of those two shots. I'm a second generation St. Pete resident and don't remember having a Burdines in town until it replaced Maas Brothers. Nor does that street scene have any familiar landmarks... wonder if those aren't Miami?

Re: Photos of 1950s St Petersburg Florida

I is working on it, watching that SP feed.
